IPS Public Awareness Campaign in 08
Hand washing is significant to reducing the risk of health care
associated infections. Infection Prevention Systems (IPS), a health
care technology company based in Glendora, CA, has developed an
innovative electronic solution to assist health care facilities with
hand washing compliance. The Clean Hands Infection Prevention
System, CHIPS, allows health care facilities to monitor 100% of hand
hygiene opportunities and to evaluate the thoroughness of hand
cleansing of staff and visitors.
In order to draw attention to the importance of hand washing, IPS
will host a public awareness campaign in Washington, D.C. in
February 2008. IPS leadership will be available to provide a
hands-on demonstration of the CHIPS technology and to discuss the
hand washing compliance issue. Representatives from Capitol Hill,
health care leaders, and the general public are invited to attend.
INFECTION PREVENTION SYSTEMS LAUNCHES NEW
HAND-WASHING TECHNOLOGY AT THE 2007 NATIONAL APIC CONFERENCE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…June 22, 2007…Glendora, CA .…Infection
Prevention Systems (IPS), a healthcare technology company will
launch the innovative Clean Hands Infection Prevention System or
CHIPS at the upcoming 2007 National Association for Professionals in
Infection Control Conference (APIC) held in San Jose, CA.
The CDC, JCAHO and other healthcare related organizations are
placing an increasing emphasis on the importance of effective
hand-hygiene procedures. In response to this issue, IPS developed
the innovative CHIPS technology; which will allow healthcare
facilities for the first time to electronically monitor 100% of
hand-hygiene opportunities and the thoroughness of hand cleansing of
healthcare staff and visitors alike, without disruption of workflow.
CHIPS, recognizes and records the presence of personnel in
hand-washing areas and electronically supervises the process.
Mounted wherever the hospital might place soap or gel/foam
dispensers, CHIPS dispenses a specially formulated solution and
provides voice and visual prompts to assist in guiding employees
through proper hand-washing procedures. The CHIPS system collects
data via electronic sensors and provides clinicians with detailed,
actionable information in order to improve compliance rates, impact
patient care, and reduce the risk of infection.
Additionally, the CHIPS solution allows for swift, effective
installation and can be tailored to the needs of a hospital. To
learn more abut this innovative technology visit booth’s 736 and 738
at the APIC conference beginning Sunday, June 24, 2007 or log onto
